Fr. Robert Spitzer, S.J., Ph.D, will deliver a public lecture Monday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the O’Malley-McAllister Auditorium on the campus of Benedictine College. His talk will be based on his recent book: New Proofs for the Existence of God: Contributions of Contemporary Physics and Philosophy. The presentation is free and open to the public.
On September 10, 2010, Spitzer appeared on Larry King Live for a debate with noted physicist and former Cambridge professor of mathematics, Stephen Hawking. Spitzer spoke in opposition to Hawking’s latest book, The Grand Design, in which Hawking argues against the need for a creator, or God, stating that, with the existence of gravity, the Universe can create itself out of nothing.
Spitzer is well known for having produced several series on cable’s EWTN including: Healing the Culture; The Spirit of Catholic Leadership; Suffering and the Love of God; Finding God Through Faith and Reason; Five Pillars of the Spiritual life; and Jesus-Emmanuel. President-Emeritus of Gonzaga University, Spitzer is now president of the Magis Center of Reason and Faith in Irvine, California.
