Experimental Physicist

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Benedictine College invites outstanding teacher-scholars to apply for a tenure track position for an Experimental Physicist starting in fall 2012. PhD required. Benedictine is a college growing in enrollment and reputation. The Department offers bachelor degrees in physics, astronomy, engineering physics and physics secondary ed. Nearly ¾ of our graduates go on to graduate or professional schools. The successful candidate should have a strong commitment to undergraduate Liberal Arts education. Teaching areas include introductory courses for the general student body and courses and laboratories at all levels for majors. The successful candidate will be expected to establish on-campus research experiences for students participating in our Discovery Program as well as in departmental research. Candidate’s background should include experience in experimental physics, complementing current faculty strengths in astronomy and theoretical physics.

 Assistant Professor, Molecular Biology (tenure track position)

Benedictine College is a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts, residential college dedicated to educating men and women within a community of faith and scholarship. The Department of Biology at Benedictine College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Molecular Biology at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2012. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach Microbiology with lab for majors and non-majors, develop courses in their areas of expertise, and may participate in team-taught introductory courses for majors and non-majors.  The successful candidate will be expected to establish a research program that will include undergraduates. Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching undergraduates in the context of a Catholic liberal arts institution, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have earned a doctorate in biology or a related discipline.

Assistant or Associate Professor; Engineering

Benedictine College invites applicants for a full-time position in our engineering department. The tenure-track position at Assistant or Associate Professor rank starts in August, 2012.

The Benedictine College Engineering Department, in its fourth year, offers its students the opportunity to pursue ABET-accredited degrees in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering as well as degrees in General Engineering and Engineering Physics. The startup of the program is enhanced by BC’s innovative collaboration with the University of North Dakota. 

The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Civil Engineering, although qualified applicants in other disciplines may be considered. He or she must be willing to teach a variety of general engineering, discipline-specific courses and laboratories, and participate in the capstone design experience. In addition to these teaching duties, the candidate will be expected to contribute substantially to the development of the BC Engineering Department, particularly in his or her discipline. Teaching and industrial experience are desirable.

Operations Assistant 


Position Summary                                                                                       

Provides operations support to the Director of Operations.  Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the Operations Department.  Applies knowledge of the organization to carry out a wide variety of administrative functions including personnel, accounting, budget, purchasing, and general logistics. Assists in maintaining the departmental budget reports. Assists in the coordination of Operations Department projects and work orders. Engages in project tasks as assigned by the Director. Gathers data and documentation for special projects assigned by the director and prepares support materials. Receives telephone calls and visitors, provides required information or refers callers to appropriate person.  Types various correspondence and reports.  

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

·         Work with the Director of Operations to support the Operations team and coordinate project schedules and budgets

·         Monitor department budgets, process invoice payments, and prepare budget reports

·         Answer telephones and transfer to appropriate staff member

·         Support staff in assigned project based work

·         Engage in project tasks as assigned by the Director

·         Meet and greet clients and visitors

·         Coordinate and maintain records for staff office space, phones, parking, company credit cards, and other important documents

The Housekeeper – Day Crew will coordinate with the Housekeeping Supervisor to ensure the buildings he or she is assigned to are properly cleaned. This included floors, walls, windows, restrooms, offices, stairwells, and other specially designated spaces such as gyms, fitness centers, weight rooms, food service areas, etc. The Housekeeper – Day Crew will utilize appropriate industry and business techniques in order to meet overall Operation Department goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·         Daily cleaning of all areas within buildings

·         Coordination with team members and Team Lead or Supervisor to ensure the entire campus is cleaned appropriately

·         Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping closet

·         Deep cleaning of buildings during College breaks and Holidays.

·         Special housekeeping department project coordination.

·         Additional duties as assigned

Director of Institutional Research and Assessment

Benedictine College, a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts, residential college in Atchison Kansas seeks a Director of Institutional Research and Assessment.  The primary duty of this position is to support the planning and decision making processes of the College by providing accurate, timely, and useful information.  The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and accreditation regulations.  In this capacity the Director works closely with offices throughout the college to determine and meet their needs for timely and accurate information.  Additionally, the Director works closely with the Associate Dean and Registrar of the College to develop, maintain, and support information regarding the academic records of the college. support of the assessment efforts of the college is integral to this position. Support of the assessment efforts of the college is integral to this position.
